Want to be able to strike fear in the opposing faction? The one sure fire way to do this has nothing to do with fire at all. Everyone has one annoying fear when trying to PVP on World of Warcaft. That fear is 'Where is that frost mage shooting at me from'. Before they spot you, it's too late. They have been snared, slowed, brutally frozen, and smashed to bits by the frost mages awesome build.
Want to know how to have this power at your finger tips? That's easy, make sure you commit yourself to the correct talent tree. There are three talent tree that a mage can play with. These are the Arcane, Frost, and Fire trees. Now, let's go over the major talents you need to be able to freeze your enemies.
Talent Trees: This is important; make sure you want to a frost mage. Once you place your talent points in the frost talent tree, it will cost some hefty gold to remove those talents and replace them. At first, it's a slight payment of 20 gold. Then the second time around it will cost you 100 gold. It continues to climb as you continue to change your mind.
Frost Tree - Out of the 71 talent points you will end up using, you want about 50-60 in this tree. The one spell you will use more than any other is Frostbolt. Make sure you love this spell, because it is your bread and butter. Make sure to acquire the major spells for a frost mage as well. These spells are Icy Veins, Cold Snap, Cold as Ice, Ice Barrier, Summon Water Elemental, and Deep Freeze. These spells will have you throwing out more damage than any other class on the game. The one thing you want to focus on is the freeze time of your opponents. A frost mage scores better critical hits, better damage, and live longer when their opponents are slowed or frozen.
Arcane Tree - If you want to take the extra points you have and spend them in the arcane slot, you will want to try to get arcane concentration. This spell will give you a chance to enter a clearcasting state where your next spell will be mana free. For a frost mage, if you have around 18 extra talent points, you can also aim to get Torment the Weak. This will allow you to cause even more damage to your slowed enemies.
